Dortha Barker

Dortha R. Barker, daughter of Earl and Jane Burgess, was born on July 24, 1932, the youngest child in a family of sisters and one brother.  She departed her earthly home to be with her heavenly father and family on Friday, December 4, 2020!

Dortha graduated from Stilwell High School and shortly after met and married Vernon O. Barker.  Two sons were born to Vernon and Dortha, Paul Barker and Ronnie Barker!  Vernon Oris and Dortha faithfully served and loved the Lord as Pastor and Pastor’s wife, for over 50 years in the Freewater Church and Community.  Dortha Loved teaching Sunday School and designing crafts for various classes.

She also loved flowers, bird watching (one year recording over 100 different birds), yard décor, baking (German Chocolate Cake and Apple Pies)!  Dortha enjoyed being near children.  One of her greatest ministeries was providing a home to many foster children and being called “Granny” at Westville Elementary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Vernon O. Barker, her sons: Paul and Ronnie, her sisters: Loleta, Leona, Irene, Lola, Ruby and her brother: Hubert, who died in WWII conflict!

She is survived by her grandchildren: Keri Bell (Derek), Jarrett Barker (Jana), Brandi and Greg Scraper, her great grandchildren: Bryce, Max, Jack, Pearl, Marigold and Poppy!
