Audie Raymond Vaughan, born on November 9, 1941, peacefully departed this life with his family by his side on July 29, 2024, at the age of 82.
Born to Thomas Daniel and RosaLee (Walters) Vaughan in Scraper Hollow, Audie exemplified love as a devoted husband, father, friend, and pastor deeply committed to serving the Lord. In 1960, Audie united in marriage with Janice Hensley, his beloved companion for 47 years. Together, they were blessed with three children: Joletta, Brenden, and Navil. Following Jan's passing, Audie found love once more and shared 16 years of marriage with Faye Baird, welcoming four additional children into his life: Jimmy, Debra, Jennifer, and Shelley.
Audie's spiritual journey began on December 19, 1964. Beginning in 1969, he dedicated over five decades to serving as a local pastor and ordained minister within the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Revered as the esteemed pastor of Adair County, Audie oversaw various congregations, including Whitmire Community Church, Clearfork Community Church, Ewing Chapel, Paris, Briggs Community Church, Westville Pentecostal Holiness Church, Hungry Mountain Community Church, and Proctor Community Church. Beyond his pastoral duties, Audie found solace in tending to his mules, sawmill, farm and garden, and always had a project or two going.
Fond of surrounding himself with loved ones, Audie thrived in the company of family and friends, showcasing his talent for storytelling that captivated all who listened.
In his legacy, Audie is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Janice Vaughan; his parents, Thomas Daniel and RosaLee Vaughan; his father-in-law, Bert Hensley; his mother-in-law, Oleta Hensley; his brother, Donald Ray Vaughan; his sister, Glenda Faye Morton; his daughter by marriage, Shelley Baird; and his grandson by marriage, Christian Calico.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Faye Vaughan; his daughter, Joletta McGowen, and her husband, Tracy, of Stilwell, Oklahoma; his sons Brenden Vaughan, and his wife, Tori, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Navil Vaughan, and his wife, Amy, of Westville, Oklahoma; his daughters by marriage, Debra Tate, and her husband, Mike, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Baird of Stilwell, Oklahoma; his son by ,marriage, Jimmy Baird, and his wife, Sharon, of Stilwell, Oklahoma; along with grandchildren, Mindy, Jeremiah, Turon, Kylee, Nevaeh, Elias, Adara, Bianca, Amanda, Kim, Josh, Joe, Peyton, Tristian, and Brandon, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Vaughan, and his wife, Dianne, of Stilwell, Oklahoma; his sister, Linda Kay Kirk, and her husband, Chuck, of Summers, Arkansas; his sisters-in-law, Janice Vaughan, Cathy Hill, and companion Junior Vasquez, and Tonya Daughtery, and husband James; his brothers-in-law, Larry Morton and Don Hensley, and wife Linda; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a multitude of friends.
