Carl "Coonie" Lee Mannon was born December 21, 1936 in Chewey, Oklahoma to Johnson Mannon & Carrie "Cootahyah" Crittenden. Coonie was raised in the home with his mother, 3 sisters & his brother until his mother's death. Running wild by the Illinois River as long as his chores were complete. He discovered a love for fishing, hunting and having corn cob fights.
On October 27, 1970 Coonie married, who he often referred to as his "One", Evalee Elizabeth Sisco Flute. With this union Coonie gained 4 daughters and 2 sons. They made their home in Westville, Oklahoma. While the changes were not easy, Coonie showed day in and day out that he loved each and everyone of the them. Together Coonie & Evalee grew their family through all of life's ups & downs until her death in 2003.
Coonie was a hard worker and provided for his family. He worked several different jobs until he went to work in 1971 at Baldor Electric until 2002, when at the urging of his wife he retired. Coonie flourished in his retirement. He could often be found on the banks of a river with a fishing pole in his hand, under the hood of a vehicle tools in hand, or hunting in the woods. Always close by was his friends, "the boys". He loved to spoil his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren & often could be heard saying "go get you a pop and candy bar".
In the early hours of November 2, 2023 God called this great man home to be reunited with his wife Evalee Mannon, his father Johnson Mannon, his mother Carrie "Cootahyah" Mannon, his three sisters Jenny Mannon, Leona Kelly, Annie Vann, his brother Brownie Mannon, his three daughters Sharon Watt, Janice Gregory, Ethelynn Flute, and one son Ronnie Flute, one grandson Sherman Christie, one granddaughter Charity Merchant & his life time friend Noble Lee West.
Those left to honor & cherish his memory are his daughter Regina Flute of Westville, Oklahoma, his son David Flute of Springtown, Arkansas, his niece Janet Stinebuck of Drumright, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, cousins and many other family and friends.
