Charles Dunn

December 2, 1932 — January 10, 2018

Charles Homer Dunn was born in Protem Missouri, December 2nd, 1932. Life was not easy for him, his family worked as sharecroppers, moving often, wherever the work led them. He only went to school through the 8th grade because to move to the next grade required him to wear a white shirt and black pants, which was not possible for his family to provide, so he quit school and started working full time at one of the many jobs he would hold during his lifetime. When Homer was 14 he was attending church, and met the love of his life, a petite brown-haired girl named Nadine Gooding. Homer and Nadine married, when He was only 15 and Nadine was 16. The ceremony took place outside of Huntsville Arkansas, in a car by the side of the road with the justice of the peace. This would not be the first of unusual events that took place in their 56 years and 20 days of marriage.
Homer was a story teller, his greatest pleasure would be just to sit and talk for hours, to anyone willing to listen. His many stories of his experiences growing up were always very detailed, he never forgot anything. Along with his storytelling, he loved to tell you a joke. He could always relate anything going on around him to a joke he heard, and he was the one to keep everyone entertained. You could always count on him having something to say and to do his best to cheer you up when you needed it. Homer was also an amateur chef, he loved to cook. He was at times very adventurous, being the only one who would try his new creation, but most of the time, he was the best cook in the house.
The greatest desire in Homer's life was to bring glory to the kingdom of God. He truly had the heart of a servant. Throughout his life he taught Sunday school, was associate pastor, evangelist, and Pastor. In the 1970's he became involved with Full Gospel Business Men's Association, helping to establish many chapters. Homer and Nadine traveled may miles in service for the Lord and undoubtedly help bring many souls into the kingdom of God.
Homer loved his family dearly. He loved spending time with and spoiling his kids but especially his grandkids. From taking lunch to school for them and their friends to taking them fishing, to the movies or out to eat, he loved being with them. They were each and everyone a source of pride and joy for him.
We will miss him dearly but know that without a doubt we will all be rejoicing together again, and we will stroll over heaven together.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Ada (Braden) Dunn, his wife: Leora Nadine Dunn, and his daughter: Carolyn Juanita Thomason.
Homer is survived by a loving family that includes his children: Sandy Johnson and husband Daryl of Stilwell, OK, Terri Haddock and husband Darrell of Maricopa, AZ, grandchildren: Brian Johnson, Cary Johnson, Shaina Kindle and husband Lane, all of Stilwell, Adam Haddock, Ashley Haddock of Maricopa, AZ, great grandchildren: Karrina Johnson of Grand Junction, CO, Alex Haddock and Noah Haddock of Maricopa, AZ, Kaston Kindle of Stilwell, Isabella Barger of Sallisaw, OK and son-in-law: Jerry Thomason.
