Charles L. Petree was born on June 2, 1929 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to John Franklin and Mary Francis Hooper Petree and he grew up in the Stilwell community. In 1945, he joined the Merchant Marines and served his country until his discharge. In 1949, Chuck met and married Rema Jewel Brannon and after returning from California they made their home in the Titanic community where he began dairy farming. To this union three children were born: Charlene Francis, Norman Clifton, and Daniel Lee. Chuck and Rema were married 39 years before she went to be with Jesus. In 1993 Chuck met and married Debbie McDaniel and for the last 17 years they have made their home in Keys. Chuck and Debbie were members of the Pentecostal Church of God of Ft. Gibson. To all, Chuck was known as a dairyman, an avid hunter, and a fisherman. Chuck enjoyed taking his dogs out and coon hunting and every year he looked forward to loading his mule Smokey up and heading to Colorado to see if he could get the Big One. When he wasnt hunting, he could be found on the lake trying to catch the Big One and sometimes the only Big One was the story he was telling. Chuck also enjoyed working in his garden, watching his fruit trees grow and telling corny jokes. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Rema Jewel, an infant son: Burney Bradford, a sister: Cora Turman and brothers: Troy and Elmer Petree. He is survived by his wife of the home Debbie, his daughter: Charlene and husband Eugene Renfro, son: Norman and wife Linda Petree and son: Daniel and wife Katherine Petree, Eight grandchildren: Darla, Julie, Dana, Shawn, Charles, Shane, Shannon, and Shaunda, Eleven Great Grandchildren: Jeffery, Brook, Shane Eric, Nicholas, Arrissa, Gavin, Kimber, Braden, Cody, Tyler, and Taylor, brothers: Loy and wife Evelyn Petree, Loyd and wife Sandy Petree, Johnny and wife Patricia Petree, sisters: Flora Ryder and Mary Provence and sister in law: Lavada Petree, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Chuck will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at RobertsReedCulver Funeral Chapel with Rev. H.J. Ford and Rev. Danny Buzzard officiating. PALLBEARERS: Shawn Petree, Shane Petree, Eric Wilson, Chris Fourkiller, Jeffrey Smith, Jim Daugherty, HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Charles Petree, Nicholas Smith. Interment followed at Spade Mountain Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
