Christine Roastingear Drywater, born on May 29, 1934, embarked on her final journey on September 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Christine was born to Lillie (Nofire) Duck and Sequoyah Quinton, and stepfather Joe Duck who played an integral part in Christine’s life.
Throughout her life, Christine was known for her passion for cooking, creating meals that brought family and friends together. She was also very proud to be a Cherokee Speaker. Christine had a special fondness for attending gospel singings, where she found great joy and solace in music. Christine also enjoyed thrift shopping and was always searching for treasures or a good deal. Christine had a green thumb, she enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. Christine was known as granny to many beyond her own and loved raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Christine was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Roastingear, and her second husband Ross Drywater, Mother Lillie (Nofire) Duck, stepfather Joe Duck, her son Arthur Roastingear, and her sister, Ann Bowers.
She is survived by her sons, Martin Roastingear and Jackson Roastingear, and her daughter, Kathryn Roastingear, daughter in law, Gayle Roastingear, grandchildren; Kenna Hogner and husband Jared Davis, Cole Hogner, Kace Rodwell and husband Jacoby Rodwell, and Curtis Jordan. Christine also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Alan Bowers, along with a multitude of family and friends who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
As we remember Christine Drywater, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family gatherings, where her spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of those she has left behind. Her presence will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
