Clarence Everett Mathews was born on July 11, 1937 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to John Mathews and Ollie Brown Mathews and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 6 days.

Clarence married the love of his life, Lorene Locust Mathews. To their union 6 children were born: Tommy James Mathews, Michael Wayne Mathews, Randy Mathews, Laverne Mathews, Terry Mathews and Diana Mathews. He worked for the Stilwell Canning Company for many years and then as a crop grower until his retirement. Clarence was a faithful member and Deacon, for several years, in the Bell Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and showed it through his love and concern for his fellow man. He was a true prayer warrior.

Clarence was preceded in death by two infant sons: Tommy James and Michael, both parents: John and Ollie Mathews, three sisters: Arizona Mathews, Johnnie Nofire and Vertie Jackie Ritter and one brother: William Mathews.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorene Mathews of the home in Stilwell, OK, two sons: Randy Mathews and wife Suzy of Siloam Springs, AR, Terry Mathews and wife Cheryl of Stilwell, two daughters: Lavern Bentz of Oaks, OK and Diana Mathews of Sallisaw, OK, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He also leaves behind a multitude of friends. Clarence will always be greatly missed and remembered with love.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Monday, October 21, 2013 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Bro. Lester Campbell and Bro. Ricky Kirk officiating. Interment followed at Salem Cemetery, Stilwell, Oklahoma.
