Cora Turman

Cora Ellen Turman, daughter of John and Mary Hooper Petree and the oldest of 9 children was born February 14, 1921 in Madison County, Arkansas and departed this life to be with our Lord on July 3, 2009 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 4 months 19 days. Cora was married to Elmer Turman and to this union 3 sons were born; J.C., Earl and Jerry Lee. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She worked for Flowers Industries for many years. After retirement she worked at Cave Springs and Rocky Mountain Schools as a foster grandparent for 17 years. She loved photography and was always taking pictures. Cora also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a charter member of the Rocky Mountain Bible church and served in many capacities over the years. She loved attending family gatherings and Gospel Singings. Cora was preceded in death by her parents; John Franklin and Mary Frances Petree, her husband; Elmer Turman, 2 sons; J.C. and Earl Turman, 2 siblings; Troy Petree and Elmer Petree. She is survived by a very loving family that includes her son; Jerry Lee Turman and wife Frances of Stilwell, Ok, 3 grandsons; Thad Turman and wife Melissa, Tannen Turman and wife Jennifer all of Stilwell, Ok, Tylen Turman and wife Darla of Colcord, Ok, 7 great grandchildren; Mason, Tallee, Eadee Turman, Hunter and Jude Turman all of Stilwell, Ok, Mia and Ronin Turman of Colcord, Ok. Siblings; Loy Petree and wife Evelyn, Flora Rider and Lavada Petree of Stilwell, Ok, Charles Chuck Petree and wife Debbie of Tahlequah, Ok, Lloyd Petree and wife Marlene, Mary Lee Province of Stilwell, Ok, Johnny Petree and wife Pat of Cold Springs, NV, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the RobertsReed-Culver funeral chapel with Bro. Rob Matlack officiating. Interment followed in the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReed-Culver Funeral Home.
