Dixie Harlin

Dixie Mae Harlin, the daughter of Bud and Eveline Rutledge, was born May 16, 1933, in Erick Oklahoma and departed this life on December 25, 2024, Colcord Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 9 days.

She was a faithful member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Westville where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Her love for Jesus Christ has been instilled in many hearts through her years of faithfulness and dedication. Through the years, Dixie worked in several cafés and eventually she and Gene owned and operated their own convenience store and Dixie’s Café where she was well known for her cooking and pie making skills. Later, she became a certified dietician and worked cooking for the elderly in nursing homes.

Dixie was known as Grandma to everyone, blood or not. Above all, she loved Jesus Christ and passed that love along to her family. Dixie loved gardening, traveling, singing, and cooking for anyone that walked into her home. She loved deeply, never turned anyone in need away and always had the best advise for those in troubled times.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Gene Harlin; daughter Ellen Garr and husband David; daughter Patsy Oliver; son Jerry Harlin; 1 grandchild; 2 great grandchildren; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

She is survived by a loving family which includes 1 brother, Roy Rutledge of Nowata OK; Judy Poteet and husband Gary of Stillwell; Evelyn Holzkamper and husband Frank of Westville; David Harlin and wife Sheri of Gravette; Kayla Williams and husband Rick of Westville; Bill Harlin and wife Mary of Van Buren; 23 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; (totaling 114); this does not include the countless people she took in and treated as her own.

Dixie was able to touch the lives of many while here on Earth and continues to do so in her absence. She will always be loved and deeply missed.
