Donald William Miller son of John Herbert and Gladys (Korne) Miller was born June 30, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio and departed this life on April 6, 2019 in Stilwell, Oklahoma surrounded by loved ones at the age of 95 years 9 months and 7 days.
Although born in Dayton, Don grew up in Springfield, Ohio before joining the Army and he served his country proudly during World War II. While enlisted he was stationed in Germany and Kodiak Island in Alaska. He married Gwendolyn in 1944 and to this union two children Suzanne and Mike were born. They were married for 37 years before her passing. He was a fireman for many years to provide for his family first serving in Muskogee for 4 years then on to Oklahoma City where he retired as a lieutenant after many years of service.
He married Virginia in 1983 and was blessed to add Ken and Ron to his family. Family time with his kids and grandkids was of great importance to him and he loved every moment spent with them. Don had a green thumb and it showed by his beautiful fruit trees, vegetable gardens and grapevines. He had a great love for time spent at Lake Eufaula and loved traveling. Among other things Don was also a master handyman, he could do plumbing, electrician or mechanic work and everything in between.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives; Gwendolyn Miller in 1981 and Virginia Miller in 2016, grandson; Christopher Michael Glazner, sisters; Mary Eleanor Parrell, Neva Louise Hall, Sarah Vaughn Miller and 1 brother; Dale Everett Miller.
Don is survived by a very loving family that includes his children; Suzanne Glazner and husband Bill, Mike Miller all of Oklahoma City, OK, Ken Funburg and wife Sherrie, Ron Funburg and wife Pat all of Stilwell, OK, grandchildren; Jon Mark Glazner and wife Stephanie, Matthew Glazner and wife Shelly, Jason Don Miller and wife Tyera, Kendra Clinton and husband Earl, Joseph Lane Funburg and wife Missie, Douglas Wayne Funburg and wife Kelly, granddaughter in law; Traci Glazner. Great grandchildren; Eva Glazner who is on her way, Olivia Glazner, Grady Glazner, Ellis Glazner, Jenni Ruppert, Ian Glazner, Jacob Glazner, Bryce Miller, Alexa Jones, Jaycelyn Miller, Kinsley Miller, Erann West and husband Daniel, Ryleigh Clinton, Alyssa Horton and husband Wes, Ashton Funburg and wife Natalie, Abram Funburg, Anna Funburg, Addison Funburg and Brent Funburg. Great great granddaughter; Kinsley Horton several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive him.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Mowery officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Don Miller to the American Cancer Society.
