Donald Ray Vaughan was born Dec. 29,1944 at Christie, Okla. to Daniel Vaughan and Rosa Lee Walters Vaughan and departed this life to be with our Lord May 26, 2017.
Donald graduated from Stilwell High School and received a Bachelor and a Master's degree in business from Northeastern State University.
He married Janice Chandler Feb. 25,1966 and to this union Jana Rae and Jeffrey Chandler were born. In 1970 he gave his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ and for the next 47 years served the Lord faithfully, the last 42 years as a member of Stilwell First Baptist Church. He served as a Sunday School teacher, Awana worker, deacon, church trustee, chairman of the finance committee and on various other committees as well as singing in the choir.
His family was always paramount in his life. His children and granddaughters gave him great pleasure and he was always ready to attend their events and worked incessantly to help them accomplish their goals and reveled in their accomplishments.
His professional life included teaching high school business subjects and English and serving as an accountant. The last 30 years of his career was spent at Cherokee Nation where he held the positions of senior accountant, accounting manager, interim comptroller, evaluation and compliance officer, internal auditor, director of executive support, and contracts director. While at Cherokee Nation he was recognized for his work receiving the Jeanne Mitzner Integrity Award, 1998 Employee of the Year, and in 2012 the Cherokee Statesmanship Award.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Daniel Vaughan. He is survived by his wife Janice, a son Jeffrey of McAlester, Okla., a daughter Jana Rae Frantz and son- in-law Craig, of Balko, Okla., two granddaughters: Nicole Frantz of Oklahoma City and Kendall Frantz of Balko. His mother Rosa Lee Vaughan, brothers Audie Vaughan and wife Faye of Stilwell and Dennis Vaughan and wife Dianne of Stilwell, sisters Glenda Morton and husband Larry of Westville and Linda Kirk and husband Charley of Lincoln, Ark., brothers-in-law Sam Chandler and Juan Barnes and sisters-in-law Carolyn Morrison and Sandy Barnes. Several nieces, nephews, family and countless friends.
