Dorothy Marie Thomson, daughter of Joseph C. and Stella Whale Park, was born on January 9, 1919 in Caney, Oklahoma and departed this life on Thursday, February 18, 2010 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 9 days. Dorothy attended Durant High School and graduated from Southeastern State University, where she was secretary to the Dean and to the President of Southeastern. She was employed by Wilburton High School, where she taught business subjects. She met and married Isaac Lockerbie Thomson of Tonkawa, OK. As an educator, Dorothy served as principal of Swink School. Later, she worked for the Postal Service for 7 years with her husband, Isaac Thomson, who was also the Postmaster. He was a volunteer chemical warfare officer for 37 years. Upon retirement, Isaac and Dorothy moved to his farm that he had purchased for 47.00 an acre. His passion was growing peaches, apples and later on, pine trees. She had been a member of the Stilwell community and the First Baptist Church for the last 10 years. Dorothy was truly a wonderful woman and a blessing to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents: J.C. and Stella Park, husband: Isaac Thomson, daughters: Mary Margaret Thomson and Eugenie Thomson Dial, brothers: Joe Park and Dr. Durward Park. Those surviving her are her daughter: Ann Means and husband Jerry of Stilwell, OK, brother: Stephen A. Park and wife Ruth of Wichita, KS, sister: Helen Eisenberg of Moultrie, GA, grandchildren: Hugh Means and wife Jessica of Stilwell, OK, Jacob Means and wife Elizabeth of Cincinnati, OH, R.J. Dial and wife Bridgett of Tulsa, OK, Mary Hayes of Tulsa, OK, 6 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Stilwell, OK with Bro. Roger Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, OK under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
