Edna L. Roberts, daughter of Ed L. and Belle (Rippatoe) Paden was born March 23, 1918 in Stilwell, OK and departed this life on April 1, 2015 in Stilwell, OK, at the age of 97 years and 9 days.
She attended Zion School and rode her horse along with other siblings from Bethel to Zion.
Her first job was in an Army plant in Parsons, KS. She was the cook at Zion School for many years, worked as head start teacher and a food program where she went into the home and taught people how to cook with commodities. She lived on the home place at Bethel and ran her farm.
Edna always said if you think your grandchildren are special wait til you have great grandchildren. She was known as "Nooney" by her grandchildren and a lot of others. She loved being a part of their lives and watching them play ball, ride horses and especially enjoyed cooking fried chicken dinner on Sunday, home grown chicken that is.
Edna grew up when people raised everything they ate and she continued this tradition up until the last few years. She raised her own chicken and beef and grew a garden until last year, then she depended on her neighbor Roger Nolan and her friends and relatives to provide fresh garden vegetables.
Edna attended the Pentecostal Indian Mission as long as she was able.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ed and Belle Paden, husband Ernest Roberts, son in law; Frog Price and all of her siblings.
She is survived by a very loving family that includes her two children; Joe Roberts and wife Ida, Jean Price, 8 grandchildren; Nicki Petree and husband Ted, Shelly Eubanks, Roger Junker and wife Kim, Angela Rodden and husband CJ, step grandchildren; Rex Price, Nathan, Charlie and Landra Foster. 16 great grandchildren; Troy and Tucker Petree, Paxton and Rilee Eubanks, Nichole Simmons, Justin and Lyndsi Junker, Anthony Rodden, K.C., Samantha, Megan, Obie, Josh, Emorey, Jada, and Jocelyn, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her.
