Eleanor Broughton

January 20, 1937 — February 26, 2015

Eleanor Broughton, daughter of Herbert and Nellie (Kingsolver) Broughton was born January 20, 1937, in Fresno, CA and departed this life on February 26, 2015, in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 6 days.

Eleanor was a naturally hardworking woman and did whatever it took to provide for her five children. She worked in food processing and waitressed for numerous years. During the filming of "It Happened at the World's Fair" in Seattle, Eleanor had the opportunity to waitress for Elvis Presley and his entourage when the King closed down the restaurant. She took pleasure in waitressing and was an excellent cook and eventually went on to open two restaurants.

She was fond of gardening and canning fruits and vegetables each year, making wonderful fruit preserves. She also loved the outdoors and could bait a hook and clean a fish with the best of them. Some of her favorite times were spent at the lake and having picnics with her family.

Eleanor always liked staying busy and spent her spare time making ceramics, sketching and painting. She was a great artist and loved making crafts and designing floral arrangements. Eleanor also loved Elizabeth Taylor, attending flea markets and never passed a yard sale at which she didn't want to stop. She was always on the lookout for the perfect gifts for her children and grandchildren or someone who might be in need of something.

She genuinely loved people and felt an obligation to help them in any way she could. This led to her becoming a great home healthcare provider to the elderly during the last years of her employment. She took satisfaction from making people's lives better. Eleanor always showed love, mercy and forgiveness to everyone. Despite hardships, she never let bitterness in or carried a grudge. She also loved church services and listening to the hymns. One of the most important lessons she taught her children was to always apologize and hug it out and always forgive. Eleanor loved her children and grandchildren and was immensely proud of them.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Nellie Broughton, and her brother, Perry Broughton Sr.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes her children, Louis Delaney, James Delaney and wife Regina all of Park Hill, OK, Eleanna Kirby and husband Jed of Westville, OK, Leeanna Baer and husband Keith of Cincinnati, AR, Janell Nail and husband Josh of Cookson, OK; grandchildren, Dustin Delaney and wife Deedra of Edmond, OK, Derek Delaney of Park Hill, OK, Darcy Delaney and husband Jon Rollman of Mustang, OK, Joshua Delaney of Tulsa, OK, Brooke Henderson and husband Kelly of Marlow, OK, Nikki Delaney of Norman, OK, Quinton Campbell and wife Andolyn of Westville, OK, Cassie Parker and husband Thomas of Stilwell, OK, Misty Mahler and husband David of Westville, OK, Randall Webster and fiancé Lori Flaherty of Ozark, AR, Joe Baer and wife Lynn of Jay, OK, James Baer of Cincinnati, AR, Krystal Terrell of Texas, Brandi Lynn Nail of Cookson, OK; 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
