Etta Belle Smallen Crittenden passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was 93.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Roberts Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will be held at Reese Cemetery Friday January 31, 2025 at 3:00pm in Stilwell, Oklahoma where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.
Etta was born on January 14, 1932, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, to the late Arlie and Viola Coombes Smallen. After high school graduation, she enjoyed her work as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. After ten years, Etta’s focus turned to her home and her family. She worked continuously to provide a loving and welcoming environment where she would spend years nurturing and encouraging her daughters to become strong women in their own lives. A long-time member of Airport Free Will Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she spent most of her life in Tulsa. Mrs. Etta moved to Georgia four years ago to be near family.
Mrs. Etta was predeceased by her parents; her loving and devoted husband of sixty-four years, Johney Crittenden; a daughter, Carolyn Annette Crittenden Eagleton; and three siblings, Virgil Smallen, Lucille Guinn, and Ronnie Smallen.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Etta are her daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Etta C. and Dr. Greg Patterson of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Freda and Richard Hodges of Kathleen, Georgia; her son-in-law, Stephen Eagleton of Chandler, Arizona; her grandchildren, John Hodges (Heather) of Swainsboro, Georgia, David Hodges (Heather) of Metter, Georgia, Stefani Eagleton of Chandler, Arizona, Staci Eagleton of Nashville, Tennessee, and Stori Stoaks (Garrett) of Chandler, Arizona; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Haley Kate Hodges, Isaac and Kendall Hodges, and Maverick Stoaks; her sister, Elva Grace Stevens of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
