Flora Rider

Flora Helen Rider, daughter of John Franklin and Mary Francis Hooper Petree was born October 8, 1924 in Pettigrew, Arkansas and departed this life to be with our Lord on October 29, 2014 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years and 21 days.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed the duties that followed her role of being a very loving wife mother and grandmother to family. When she was 12 she moved to California and helped raise her brothers and sisters while there. During World War II she worked in the shipyards in San Diego, California. She was a preschool teacher for 25 years. Flora was also the President of the Stilwell Community Center for 15 years.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Petree, her husband Luke Rider, son Troy Edward Rider and granddaughter Stacy Whaley.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes her children Francis Earl Rider and wife Greta of Riverside, CA, William Allen Rider and wife Minda of Collinsville, TX, Jerry Wayne Rider and wife Beverly of Grand Junction, CO, 11 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren. Two brothers Lloyd Clifton Petree and wife Marline of Stilwell, OK, Johnny Petree and wife Patricia of Reno, NV, sister Mary Lee Provence of Stilwell, OK, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Bro. Joe White officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery, Stilwell, OK.
