Freeman Bennett

Freeman L Bennett, son of William Walter Bill and Beulah Thurber Bennett, was born on July 2nd, 1936 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Friday, October 15, 2010 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 13 days. Freeman was a longtime resident of the Stilwell area, making his home in the Rocky Mountain Community. While in High School, he played basketball and was Valedictorian of his class. During his career, he was the owner of Darrells Messenger Service in Tulsa, owned Bennett Trucking and was a farmer and rancher. Freeman was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and skiing. He kept busy with his farm work and working on his tractors. Freeman was a people person. He loved to talk and swap stories. He would travel whenever possible. He liked to see and visit new places. When he had spare time, he would go bowling or watch football and Friday Night Smackdown with family and friends. Freeman loved his family. They were his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Beulah Bennett, wife: Dorothy Bennett, son: Darrell Bennett and brother: Edward Bennett. Those keeping his memory are his daughter: Marie Turner and husband Stephen of Tulsa, OK, sister: Evelyn Petree and husband Loy of Stilwell, OK, brother: Tom Bennett of Stilwell, OK, granddaughter: Darrellyn Joslin and husband Darren of Glenpool, OK, two great grandchildren: Ksie Calaway of Collinsville, OK, Kssie Joslin of Glenpool, OK. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Barber Cemetery, Welling, OK, with Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment followed under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
