Gordon L. Minor, MSgt USAF Retired, died July 9, 2023. He was born June 21, 1927 in Leoti, Kansas, to Ernst and Eva Minor. He was reared and educated in Leoti, Kansas.
Entering the US Army in 1945, he would serve in the Alaskan Theater. He married Mary Pruitt of Stilwell, Oklahoma, on August 21, 1948. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951 and served in Korea, Iceland, Italy, Turkey, and many bases in the United States. Gordon retired from the Air Force in 1973. During his service career he received the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Korea War Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and various other service and victory medals. After his retirement from the Air Force he was a school bus driver at Peavine Schools for 20 years. In 1986, he helped organize and served as Secretary/Treasurer of Adair County Rural Water District #3.
Preceding him in death are his wife of 55 years Mary; one daughter Linda Cooper; his parents, seven brothers Gerald Minor, Donald Minor, Leon Minor, Duane Minor, Harold Minor, Vernon Minor, and Larry Minor; three sisters Joyce Farr, Theda Ball, and Charlotte Carson.
Those left here to cherish Gordon's memory is his two sons Gordon Eugene of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Roger Alan and wife Susan of Stilwell, Oklahoma; two daughters Glenda Doyle of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Melissa Kirk and husband Mark of Stilwell, Oklahoma; two sisters Lois Phillis of South Hutchison, Kansas and Margaret Turner of Scott City, Kansas; brother-in-law Tommy "Red" Pruitt of Missouri; and twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
