Herman Dee Isaacs, son of Ike and Florence Floyd Isaacs, was born on July 1, 1932 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life at the age of 84 on January 6, 2017 in Dallas Texas. He was a twin and brother to Thurman, who passed away exactly 28 months ago to the day. Herman graduated from Stilwell High School and attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas.
Herman was married to Faye Hamlin and to this union three children were born. Ronald Isaacs, Alice Isaacs Rankin, and Dee Ann Isaacs Kundysek.
Herman was drafted into the army during the Korean conflict. He was inducted at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and served at Camp Roberts in the Anti-Air Craft division guarding the basin along the Pacific Ocean. During his time at Camp Roberts, he worked 24 hour shifts and spent many of his days off fishing along the California coast. During a fishing trip, he was swept out to sea with another soldier and, during his time adrift, he decided to give his life to Christ and become a minister. On August 24, 1958 he was ordained into the ministry by the First Baptist Church of Tyrone, Oklahoma.
In the 1960's he managed Roberts Funeral Home in Westville Oklahoma. During this time, he Pastored several small country churches and continued his work as a minister, which was his greatest joy. He was very involved in the local community during this time. One of the unique things about his ministry is he never charged for his services because he felt that God would bless him in other areas. He would marry folks, bury people, and do vocational ministries without a fee and he never took a salary for being a Pastor. He was a talker and people were drawn to his kindness.
He was gifted in business and had many businesses throughout his life. In his early years, he owned and operated a Western Auto Store in Texas with his young family. In the early 70'S, he started the Isaacs Discount Center in Watts that carried groceries, hardware, dry goods, appliances and furniture all in one location. The store was known for its friendly employees and hand cut meats. In later years, he owned a U-Haul franchise and the Isaacs Feed store in Stilwell that sold livestock feed. After retiring and moving to Texas to be close to his younger grandkids, he later worked for Sam's wholesale club in Houston as a business development manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Florence Isaacs and brothers, J.C. Isaacs, L.C. Isaacs, and Thurman Isaacs all of Stilwell Oklahoma.
He is survived by Ronald Isaacs and wife Jan of Chicago, Illinois. Grandson Jake Isaacs of Ft. Worth Texas; Grandson Jared Isaacs and wife Alexis of Aledo Texas and great Granddaughter Reagan Grace.
Alice Isaacs Rankin and husband Byron of Stilwell Oklahoma; Granddaughter Julie Rankin Kimble and husband Robby, great granddaughter Grace and Great Grandson Rylan Kimble; Granddaughter Holly Rankin Barton and husband Josh of Westville Oklahoma and Great Grandsons Ethan and Alex Barton of Westville Oklahoma; Grandson Steven Rankin and Fiancé Miranda Riddle of Stilwell Oklahoma, great grandson Kieran Rankin of Stilwell and another Great Grandchild that is due in June;

Herman loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He also loved animals; enjoyed his dog Oreo and gardening. He was a loving grandfather and was always giving hugs and kissing your hand. He was gentle in spirit, kindhearted, and giving.
In 2009, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and underwent Chemotherapy. In the same year, he also was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He fought very hard to live and surprised his Doctor's by living another eight years. He had grit and determination but never lost his gentle spirit. In the last eight years of his life, he was cherished and loved by the folks at Manchester Care Home in Dallas Texas. He thought he "managed" the home and they also became his family. At his passing they shed tears at missing their "Pa-Pa Herman." As a family, we are forever grateful for the love and care he received while living at Manchester Place.
We will miss our Dad and Grandfather, but we know he is in the arms of Jesus and is no longer in pain. He is in heaven now and is most likely trying to "manage" something up there. One of his favorite phrases was "you cannot out give God." The greatest lesson he taught us was to be a giver in all things.
