Howard Heustis, son of William Franklin and Ionia Doughty Heustis, was born April 14, 1920 in Chewey, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Monday, October 26, 2009 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 12 days. Howard was a World War II veteran, who served his country as a member of the 43rd Quartermaster Company in New Guinea, Northern Solomon Islands and Luzon. While serving his country, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Service Arrowhead and Philippines Liberation Ribbon with One Star. Howard was also a farmer and a line worker at Allen Canning. On July 16, 1946, he married the love of his life, Sarah Vaughn. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Ollie Ann Heustis, sister: Irene Heustis, brothers: Louie and George Heustis and an infant brother. Those left to rejoice in his life and mourn his passing are his wife: Sarah Heustis of the home in Sand Springs, OK, son: John Heustis and wife Cheryl of Sand Springs, OK, grandchildren: Jared Heustis of Sand Springs, OK, Jon Zachary Heustis currently serving in the U.S. Navy of Gulfport, MS, Crystal Heustis of Mounds, OK, Alicia Hess of Sand Springs, OK, Christopher Webb of Sand Springs, OK, Jacqueline Webb of Sand Springs, OK, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 in the RobertsReed-Culver Funeral Chapel in Stilwell, Oklahoma with Bro. Darrell Lacie and Bro. Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at the Old Baptist Mission Cemetery in Westville, Oklahoma under the direction of RobertsReed-Culver Funeral Home.
