James Brown

James Frederick Brown was born on January 29, 1923 in Stilwell, OK and departed this life on October 13, 2013 in Stilwell, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma Brown and one daughter, Vivian Jean Brown and brothers Frankie Brown, John R. Brown, Mack Brown, and Bill Brown. Sisters, Barbara Boen, Julia Asbill, Rita Littlejohn, and Jeanie Ritter.

Survived by his wife of the home, Ruby Naomi Brown and his 11 children: Patsy Barrett and her late husband, Gene Barrett of Sallisaw, OK Jimmy Brown and his wife Pauline of Westville Beverly Ross and her husband, Felix Ross, Jr. of Stilwell David Brown and wife Debi of Westville Trudy Genson and her husband Buster of Bixby, OK Kathy Lewis of Siloam Springs, AR Emma Williams of Westville, OK Sheila Wyrick and husband Paul of Stilwell, OK Carl Brown and wife Sarah of Baron, OK Tracie Martin and husband David of Destin, FL and Brett Brown and wife Amalia of Phoenix, AZ. Also, 1 brother , Zeke Brown of Bakersfield, CA and 1 sister, Nettie Walkingstick of Stilwell, OK.

Grandchildren: William Barrett, Michael Barrett, Kim Huff and Ryan Barrett Lance Brown and John Brown Brian Ross and Angela Martin Travis Brown and Trenton Brown Andrea Cantrel and Amanda Ross Chris Cushing and Amy Hammer Jayme Leatherwood, Kenli Stanfill and Peighton Williams Nathan McReynolds, Nicole Nunn and Ariel McIntosh Hannah Brown, Kelsey Brown, Miranda Brown, Kinsey Brown and Maddie Brown Tiffany Vasek and Alexis Martin Logan Brown, Kaden Brown and Tristan Brown.

He was also survived by a host of great and greatgreat grandchildren as well as other relatives, friends and loved ones.

James began working in his early years in the fields raising and picking berries, raising beans and other crops after attending Agricultural school taught by Gene Gray. A war veteran of the World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Guam. He worked for many years and retired from the Campbell Soup Company in Arkansas and then went on to work for Baldor Electric in Westville, OK and retired there also. After retirement, he received training in Tahlequah at Bill Willis in May 1986 for Small Engine Repair.

At the age of 80, he received his high school diploma some 60 years after he left school early and incomplete to serve in the war. He devoted his life to his faith and teachings as a preacher of the Baron Church of Christ, in Baron, Oklahoma, where he loved his church family. He loved to travel and hold revival meetings in churches throughout the United States visit with church members and friends in fellowship and take part in gospel singings.

Funeral service at 2 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Bro. Jack Warford and Bro. Doyle Wilson officiating. Interment to follow at Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell,OK.
