James Floyd Burnett son of John Malden and Cynthia Lillie Belle Steen Burnett was born May 12, 1926 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on March 12, 2012 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 85 years and 10 months. Floyd served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Army. He loved to go hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for many years until his retirement in 1987. He attended the Whitmire Community Church for many years when his health permitted. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Wanda Lee Burnett, grandson Donald Floyd Burnett, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Floyd is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife Geneva Burnett of the home in Stilwell, OK, 6 children Donald Burnett and wife Kathy of Hulbert, OK, Ronald Burnett and wife Susan of Shawnee, OK, Randall Burnett and wife Stella of Midwest City, OK, Darlene Cox and husband Rick of Shawnee, OK, Gary Burnett and wife Violet of Stilwell, OK, Terry Burnett of Siloam Springs, AR, 4 step children Mary Tarkington and husband Orville of Cleveland, OK, Keith Benham and wife Jan of Stilwell, OK, Lloyd Benham and wife Sheila of Watts, OK, Nadine Pettigrew of Tahlequah, OK. 15 grandchildren 27 great grandchildren 4 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers Johnnie Burnett and wife Carolyn of Broken Arrow, OK, Raymond Burnett and wife Belinda of Stilwell, OK, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him. Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the RobertsReedCulver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Matthew Wilson officiating. Interment was held at 3:00 p.m. in the Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee, OK under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
