James Hume

January 31, 1937 — January 15, 2015

James "Jim" Franklin Hume, son of Frank Kensinger and Ora Ethel (Brown) Hume was born January 31, 1937 in Modesto, CA and departed this life on January 15, 2015 in Stilwell, OK at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 15 days.

Jim married Nancy Joseph on March 24, 1956 and to this union six sons were born; Dirk, Dale, Dudley, Darrel, Darrin and Daniel. He served his country proudly in the United States Naval Submarine Service for over 20 years before retirement. He then worked for the Unites States Postal Service until retiring for a second time. He loved hunting, riding motorcycles, giving his sons a hard time and especially enjoyed time spent with the grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; Frank Hume, mother and step father; Ora and Anthony Timmer, sister; Jeanne Smith and 2 sons; Darrin Hume and Dale Alan Hume.

Jim is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife of 58 years and 10 months, Nancy Hume of the home in Stilwell, OK, 4 sons; Dirk Hume and wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, OK, Dudley Hume and wife Brenda of Webbers Falls, OK, Darrel Hume and companion Stacy of Sallisaw, OK, Daniel Hume and wife Dayna of Stilwell, OK, 9 grandchildren; Candace Hume, Josh Hume, Grant Hume, Cydney Hume, Hilary Hume, Hunter Hume, Tyson Hume, Jake Hume and Hadley Hume. 1 great grandson; Tristan Pruitt, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.


In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Veterans Association of America or the American Cancer Society.

Graveside services at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, Ok. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
