Janet Brunk was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on November 27, 1947, to James William (Bill) Brunk and Ollie Bell (Woodward) Brunk of Stilwell, Oklahoma. Janet was the eldest of five siblings in the Brunk farm family, growing strawberries, beans, potatoes and other crops. She attended Maryetta schools and graduated from Stilwell High School in 1966.
Janet married Thomas Dale (Tiny) Fourkiller in 1967 and had two children. They lived in California for many years where Janet attended college before moving permanently back to Oklahoma. She and Tiny began and pastored a church together in Stilwell for a number of years where Janet taught the bible and led praise and worship services. Both her commitment to God and her love for music were evident throughout her life.
Janet held a variety of occupations, including housewife and Mother, dispatcher jailer/matron, newspaper proofreader, and “granny” for Maryetta school. She completed medical coding courses at Indian Capital Vo-Tech, an important achievement and result of her hard work and dedication.
Janet is best remembered for her strong faith, her unfailing generosity and limitless love.
Janet is preceded in death by her father, Bill Brunk in 2002 and her sister-in-law Janice Brunk in 2022. She is survived by her mother, Ollie Brunk of Stilwell, children Melanie Fourkiller of Cookson, OK and Sean Fourkiller of Tahlequah, three brothers, James Brunk and wife Wylene of Park Hill, OK, John Brunk and wife Ann of Oakwood, GA, Dr. Bill J. Brunk of Stilwell, sister Cathy Matthews and husband Danny of Stilwell, many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, as well as many more family and friends.
