Janice Deville

January 1, 1943 — October 31, 2020

Former Resident of Stilwell

Janice came into the world backwards and screaming, daughter of Stanley & Jo Smith (Barnes).  She grew into a beautiful woman, intelligent and hard-working, with a quick wit and a ready smile. She was a remarkable person who exemplified love and kindness, adored by all who knew her. As a young mom, she worked as a bookkeeper, and was part-owner of the Sears store in Stilwell, all while tending to chores on the family farm. Janice was good at many things, but her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her three, vivacious children. They were the greatest loves of her life, her pride and joy, and she considered them to be her greatest successes. Rising to the challenge of mothering high-spirited children, she tempered her discipline with love, filling her home with joy and laughter, as she tended to their various misadventures. She continually encouraged them to dream big, aim high, and to be their best, all while making sure they knew how much they were deeply loved. Janice also had a love for all animals, and was considered an animal whisperer for many a wayward dog and cat. Kindness was at the core of her soul, never passing up the chance to lend a hand to either animal or human, and she could often be found rescuing a stray, or bringing food to homeless people. She went back to college later in life, where she achieved her dream of being a nurse, at the age of 60! Jan was quite popular with her classmates, and later on, her co-workers, as she worked various nursing jobs in Oklahoma, and she will be deeply missed. She leaves behind her husband – Irv Deville, and her 3 children: Jim Risinger and Alaina (Howe), Marty Crawford and Mindy (Risinger), JC James and Charlotte (McCarthey).  She was very fond of her Daughters-in-Law, Alaina and Charlotte, and particularly proud of her grandchildren,  Jan Richard and Wiles Risinger, Chris and Kyle Crawford, Mykala and Grayson James and her step-children Beau Deville and Liz Costa, mother of Kehlie, Rosie, and Anthony.  She beat cancer the 1st time, but it returned, taking her far too soon. She was a faithful servant of God and prayed for her family fervently.  Because of her faith, another angel has made her way to Heaven.
