Janice Fell

d. August 8, 2010

DeAnn Miller Fell, born July 26, 1956, died August 8, 2010 at the age of 54. She accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized at age 8 by Pastor John Brill at the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah. She is survived by her husband, Glen Fell, daughter, Margaret of the home and stepdaughter, Desiree Fell, also of Tulsa brothers, Stephen, wife Tammi, and children Rebecca and Ben of Tulsa, Joe David, wife Charla, and children Bryce and Katelyn of Stilwell parents, Wayne and Ernestine Miller, also of Stilwell. As a descendant of oldtime settlers of the area, she also has many other relatives here. She began her lifelong pattern of assisting others as a 3 year old overseeing her 6 week younger neighbors safe use of playground equipment. Later as they entered kindergarten together, it became necessary to put them in separate classes since DeAnn wanted to do everything for the younger friend. This type of behavior continued into early teenage years when she became the neighborhood Ann Landers. In high school, there were guests who came home from school with her to stay overnight or even a few days due to problems in their homes. Then after HS graduation, she found that a young woman was leaving her toddler at a childcare center for 2 or 3 days at a time rules were lax in those days so she brought the child home to us frequently. We had been keeping the child on and off for several months before we met his mother. After graduation from OSU in 1980, this caring behavior continued throughout her work life which included: Pardon and Parole Board Officer Legal Services of Oklahoma T.A.R.C. and Volunteer Guardian Trainer. This compassion was always displayed in her social life and she served as a resource person for anyone in need, taking the part of the underdog and the disadvantaged, shouldering their problems and putting their welfare ahead of her own. When the load became too heavy, the gracious Heavenly Father called her home to blessed rest. Vindicate the poor and fatherless. Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy Ps 82:3,4. De Ann carried out these instructions for a lifetime. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Gerald Buckner officiating. Interment followed at Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
