Janis Louise Burns Hastings was born to Roy Joe Burns and Edith Cannon Burns on January 20, 1942 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She passed away on May 28, 2013 at her home in Westville, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 8 days. On July 25, 1958, Janis and Gene Hastings were married and made their home in the Chance Community. Together they raised their two children, Russell and Ranae. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved flower gardening, feeding the birds, playing with Brilee Bell and watching her Sooners and Thunder play ball. She enjoyed and looked forward to attending church on Sunday mornings. She is preceded in death by her husband Gene of 49 years, both of her parents: Joe and Edith, one brother: Buddy Joe Burns and one infant daughter. Her surviving family includes her daughter: Ranae Vaughn and husband Randy of Westville, OK, one son: Russell Hastings and wife Angela of Watts, OK, two granddaughters: Paula Vaughn Breckenridge and husband Brandon of Westville, Valerie Hastings, one very special great granddaughter: Brilee Bell Breckenridge, one sister: Anna Mae Webb of Watts, one brother Danny Mike Burns of Watts. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive her. Graveside services were held at 10 am on Friday, May 31, 2013 at New Hope Cemetery, Westville, OK with Bro. Larry Kindle officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts Hart Funeral Home, Westville.
