Helen Doris Jean Chair, daughter of Marion Isaac Ward and Tressie Mae McCann was born on April 9, 1930 in Prue, OK and left this life for her heavenly home on January 10, 2016 in Stilwell, OK at the age of 85 years 9 months and 1 day.
She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Grandchildren and many others new her as "Granny Jean" or "Mimi" . She loved spending time with her family, taking pictures, cooking and sewing. Many baby blankets, and stuffed animals were made by Granny Jean. She was also known for her fried pies, fried chicken and roast beef dinners.
Jean worked for many years at Greasy Elementary School as a Teacher's Aide. She worked with the 4-H Club as a Leader for over 25 years. Granny Jean loved children. Many times past students would come to her with a hug and a thank you for helping them in school.
Jean was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and served several offices.
Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church for approximately 40 years. When she was able she helped in the church nursery, children's church and taught toddler training union. Jean was saved at the age of eleven at Glenwood Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK.
Jean married Perry Lee Chair, Sr. they had many happy years together. Jean and Perry had a total of eleven children between them.
She is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Tressie, her husband Perry Chair, Sr., infant son Steven Chair, daughter Phyllis Kern, son Douglas Chair; great-grandchild Bridgette Coleman, great-great grandchild Brentley Standridge; brothers Leonard Ward, Marion Ward, Robert Ward, Ralph Ward.
Jean is survived by her children, Perry Chair, Jr. and wife Lisa, Gaynia Jones and Husband Paul of Stilwell, OK, Bruce Dye, Brian Dye and wife Maudie of Nowata, OK, Rex Dye and wife Monica of Hanson, Kentucky, Regina Woolman and husband Denny, Bonnie Crossland and husband Chris of Nowata, OK and Jackie Wayne Chuculate of Tulsa, OK; 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; a brother Sam Ward, and sister Wanda Durham of Sand Springs, OK; a very special friend, Bill Brown; several nieces, nephews , other relatives and many friends also survive her.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Bro. Roger Haney officiating. Interment will follow in the Chuculate Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
