Jennie Mae Smith

Jennie Mae (Hoskin) Smith, age 84 of Stilwell, Oklahoma passed away June 19, 2023, at in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Jennie was born June 27, 1938, in Adair county, Oklahoma, to Ned and Eliza (Blaire) Hoskin. She grew up in Adair County and graduated from the Stilwell High School. Jennie completed her nursing certificate at Haskell Indian College. 

Jennie worked in the healthcare profession in California but spent most of her career in Stilwell as a Community Health Representative for Cherokee Nation.

Jennie loved to travel and loved her pets.  She was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and a fluent Cherokee speaker.

Jennie was married to Edward Smith and the couple later divorced.

She was preceded in death by one son Edward Smith Jr and one sister Josephine.

Survivors include nephew Chuck Hoskin and wife Stephanie; great nephew Chuck Hoskin Jr and wife January; great nephew Sam Hoskin and wife Rebecca; great nephew Roger Goins and his wife Susan; three great nieces Amy Hoskin, Jennifer Goins and Rachel Cummings and husband Jarrett.
