Joe Chewey

Joe Chewey, son of Raymond and Josie Blackbird Chewey was born January 21, 1938 in Adair County, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on February 22, 2010 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 1 day. Joe worked at Bairds Farm for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking care of his old home place where he grew up. He was a member at Mulberry Church and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Josie Chewey, 1 brother Johnson Chewey, 1 sister Sarah Johnson and 1 son Ronnie Chewey. Joe is survived by a loving family that includes 2 sons Joe Chewey and wife Angela of Stilwell, Ok, Michael Ray Chewey of Texas and 8 grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends also survive him. Funeral services were held, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the RobertsReedCulver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gil Hooper officiating. Interment followed in the Mulberry Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
