John Walter Carter passed after a brief illness, peacefully and surrounded by family into the arms of his Savior on Monday, February 1, 2021. He was born on December 15, 1924 in Northern Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Carter. He talked often of going to be with her.
Dad was a member of the greatest generation living through hard times, the great depression, WW2, and the Korean Conflict. He served his country during WW2 in the Coast Guard and after the war he left the Coast Guard briefly and joined the Navy making it a career. He loved being at sea and would often entertain his grandchildren with stories of launching and retrieving aircraft aboard the Aircraft Carriers he served on with pride. He retired from the Navy after 20 years. Then went to work for the Post Office in Mountain View Ca.
John is survived by his brother, Robert Allen, by 3 sons Steve, Mike and Don and his daughter-in-law Loretta; 7 Grandchildren Mathew and daughter-in-law Fran, and Jackie and son-in law Eric, Gabrielle and son-in law Nate, Owen and daughter-in-law Tami, Eric, Justin, and Ashley; and 15 Great-grandchildren.
He always had a smile on his face and a story to share. He will be missed by all who were blessed to have had him in their life.
