John Christie

June 5, 1968 — November 12, 2017

John "Thomas" Christie, son of Johnnie and Eloise Christie, was born on June 5, 1968 in Sioux City, Iowa. He passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 49 years.

He grew up in Stilwell, Oklahoma in the Wauhillau area. He attended Stilwell Public Schools. He was a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator. A talent he learned from his father as a boy growing up involved with the family business, a Construction Company owned and operated by his father Johnnie Christie. Thomas was very proud of his ability and was a perfectionist in his work.

Thomas loved music of all kinds and vintage cars. He enjoyed shooting guns and watching the history channel.
He was a tribal member of the United Keetoowah Band Cherokee and was always proud to be a Christie and never let anyone forget it.

He was very proud of his son who was named after him, John Thomas Christie II. He always said "I hope he grows to be a big man". It gave him joy to see his 19 year old son standing 6'3" tall. He loved his son with all his heart and was very proud to have passed on his name to him.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents: Johnnie Lee and Eloise Christie: Paternal Grandparents Thomas and Lula Mae Christie: Maternal Grandparents Arleacher and Narcie (Scraper) Beaver.

He is survived by his only child, his son John Thomas Christie II of Tahlequah, OK; his brother Stoney Christie of Stilwell, OK.

Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, Oklahoma with Bro. Solomon Mockicin officiating. Interment followed at Hickory Vann Cemetery, Bunch, Oklahoma.
