Johnnie Reid Johnson, son of Samuel and Gertrude Whitworth Johnson, was born October 22, 1932 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on July 18, 2009 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Johnnie served his country proudly for 23 years. His career in the Military started with the Thunderbird Unit of the National Guard, he then joined the United States Air Force where he attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. During his military service he served in Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Azores. Upon his retirement from the military, he came back to Stilwell where he worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service after 16 years of service. Johnnie liked to collect coins and stamps, but above all he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Gertrude Johnson, one son: Johnnie Reid Johnson II and daughter-in-law: Donna Kay Johnson, one sister: Bettye Leatherwood, six brothers: Richard Sr., Bob, Henry, Jack, Bill and his infant brother: Sam Willard Johnson. Johnnie is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home in Stilwell, two sons: Todd and wife Connie of Guthrie, OK, Trey Johnnie R Johnson III and wife Samantha of Stilwell, three grandsons: Cade Johnson of Blairsville, PA, Cameron Johnson of Guthrie, Lane Johnson of Stilwell, two sisters: Marilyn Zollinger and husband Hans of Stilwell, Saundra Miller of Stilwell, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Stilwell with Bro. Barry Hays officiating. Interment followed at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the Tinker AFB Honor Guard and RobertsReed-Culver Funeral Home.
