Johnny Hummingbird, Jr.

Johnny PeeWee Hummingbird Jr., son of Susie and the late Johnnie Hummingbird, was born on October 29, 1961 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 surrounded by family in his home in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 52 years.

Johnny was a lifelong resident of Stilwell, and graduated from Stilwell High School in 1979. He was a member of the Army National Guard. He worked as a day laborer and had been employed by Cherokee Nation and Stilwell Utilities in the past. Everybody knew him as PeeWee, most not knowing his real name. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage. He was involved and supportive in the various activities of his three children, whether it be art, athletics, college, travel or a simple board game. He loved sports. He enjoyed being a part of them through play, or by refereeing and umpiring. But most of all, he loved to help coach. Some of his favorite things to do that he will be remembered by include: barbecuing, playing cards and dominos, cruising back roads, collecting baseball caps, and listening to Classic Rock. He will be greatly missed and eventually well be together.

He was preceded in death by his father Johnnie Hummingbird, aunt Lucille Hummingbird, and nephew Mitchell Thompson, Jr.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Becky Hawkins two daughters: Angela Hummingbird and partner Brian Carter of San Mateo, CA Felicia Hummingbird of Stilwell one son, Kendal Hummingbird of Stilwell, OK mother, Susie C. Hummingbird of Peavine, OK three sisters: Cherry Thompson and husband Mitchell of Peavine, OK Susan Minor and husband Roger of Peavine, OK Mary Beth Hummingbird of Peavine, OK two brothers: Joseph Hummingbird of Peavine, OK Sean Hummingbird of Kansas, OK along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

Funeral services were held at 10 am on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Bro. Leon Hitcher officiating. Interment followed at Blackwood Cemetery, Stilwell, OK
