Josie was a very loving and caring woman with a heart of gold. She was always warm and welcoming with a big smile. If you ever went to her house, she always made sure you were fed; she had a passion for cooking. Her heart was the happiest when she was able to give, blessing friends, family, and the community with her hot tamales.

She was an exceptional mother, not only to her two children, but took other under her wings too. Treating them as her very own. Many nieces and nephews looked up to her as a role model. She loved the Lord, loved to sing, and attend church. Visiting with friends brought her so much happiness. At times it could be hard to catch her home, she loved going shopping with her best friend: Shirley and Helen. Other times you could catch her on her porch visiting. She loved planting flowers, watching the Golden Girls, and spending her time with her grandchildren, they brought her so much joy. She always said, “Family first, family always comes first”.
