Katie Mink, daughter of Adam Canoe and Jennie (Pettit) Canoe, was born October 7, 1953 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years.
Katie was a member of the Stilwell Indian United Methodist church. She was a very active member and loved being there with her church family.
Katie loved to sing, cook, dance and be with family and friends. She was the kindest person. She would always make sure to feed you if you were hungry, shelter you if you needed a place to stay or be a mom, sister or friend to anyone who just needed the comfort. She was the best mother you could ask for. She spent her life teaching and spoiling her children. She was their rock and spiritual leader. She brought peace and comfort not only to her children but to anyone around her.
Katie was a strong woman of Christ. Through every trial she went through she never lost her faith. She was a true leader and and inspiration for God.
Katie is survived by her sons Robert and wife Angie Glass and Bryan Mink both of Stilwell, Oklahoma, daughters Angela Glass of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Gayla and husband Chris Mills of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Brother: John Canoe of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, sisters: Mary and husband Joe Scott of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Jennie and husband Dexter Taylor of Westville, Oklahoma. Step brothers: Edward Wilson, Kenneth Wilson and Timmy Carey. Step sisters: Marina Glenn and Pam Wilson. Grandchildren: Joseph Glass, Jacob Glass, Alysia Glass, Ama Fischer, Gabryal Mills and Bethany Glass. Honorary great granddaughter: Sallee Leach and great grandson: Michael Glass.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Adam and Jennie (Canoe) Pettit, husband: Bryan Mink, sisters: Leona Snell, Margaret Vann, Caroline Littedeer, brothers: Leroy Canoe and Daniel Canoe, and numerous of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell, OK with Pastor Debbie Humphrey and Larimie Fixin officiating. Interment followed at South Bunch Cemetery, Bunch, OK.
