Leona Snell, daughter of Adam and Jennie Pettit Canoe, was born on October 2, 1943 in Bunch, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 25 days. Leona was a warm and giving person. Her family was deeply important to her. She enjoyed every minute that she was able to spend with her grandchildren and family. Leona had many hobbies. She liked to read. She loved the outdoors, fishing and using her metal detector to find new treasures. Leona was excellent with beadwork and made many beautiful items. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents: Adam and Jennie Canoe, brother: Daniel Canoe, motherinlaw: Agnes Snell and fatherinlaw: Ben Snell. Leona is survived by a large, loving family that includes her husband: John Snell of the home in Stilwell, son: Jason Snell and Kayle Nofire of Jay, OK, daughters: Shirley Cochran and husband Perry, Jr. of Stilwell, Glenda Cameron and husband Fred of Cookson, Tanya Bigfeather and husband Troy, Sonya Gann and husband Timothy, all of Stilwell, grandchildren: Josh Fixin of Tahlequah, Larimie Fixin and Matthew Cameron of Cookson, Michael Bigfeather of Stilwell, Phillip Cochran of Oktaha, OK, Noah Cochran of Stilwell, Nicole Snell and Colton Snell of Tulsa, Caiden Snell of Jay, Miriam and Little Bear Gonzales, Wyatt Deacon Snell, Jerico Snell and Derrick Gann, all of Stilwell, Miranda Cameron of Tahlequah and Stephanie Liles of Stilwell, Ketcher Nofire, brothers: John Canoe and wife Teresa, Leroy Canoe and wife Mary of Stilwell, sisters: Margaret Vann, Caroline Littledeer, Katie Mink and husband Bryan, Mary Scott and husband Joe, Jennie Taylor and husband Dexter, all of Stilwell. Leona leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2011 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Rev. George Polecat officiating. Interment followed at South Bunch Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
