Leroy L. Bone Locust, 58, born August 3, 1952 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed away April 4, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Leroy was the 5th of 6 children born to Isaac and Carrie Neely Locust. He was raised in the Salem Community and attended school at Bell Elementary until moving on to Stilwell High School. Leroy married Charlene Bird on July 29, 1972. They enjoyed over 38 years of marriage. Leroy worked for years as a service station attendant at Wilsons, Collins and Berts Stations in Stilwell and the Phillip 66 Station in Checotah, Oklahoma. He also worked at Greenleaf Nursery, before he traveled to Dallas in 1985 to attend truck driving school and begin his 17 year career as an Over the road driver. Leroy enjoyed old cars and trucks, car shows, wrestling and basketball. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Carrie Locust, brother: Carl Allen Locust and nieces, Loretta Wolfe Scraper and Rachel Byrd Locust. He is survived by his wife Charlene Bird Locust and daughter, Letisha Donnell Locust both of the home in the Fairfield Community. One son Elroy Locust and family Deanna, Marcus, Nicholas, Shaleigh and Archer of the Peavine Community. Leroy is also survived by one brother, James Bub Locust and wife Sharon of Stilwell, three sisters, Mary Jane Wolfe, Lorene Matthews and husband Clarence of Stilwell and Carolyn Swimmer and husband Larry of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Rev. Gary Leach and Rev. Kevin Flynn officiating. Leroy will be laid to rest at Reese Cemetery in the Peavine Community.
