Loretta Dickson-Stacy, born on April 12, 1936, took her leave from this world on July 14, 2025. She was a beloved figure in her community, weaving her love into every stitch she sewed, every meal she cooked, and every child she bused to school.
Loretta had a full life, juggling many roles with grace. She spent thirty years working on the election board, making sure that every election ran smoothly. She also served as a cook at Maryetta School for eight years, where she fed many children, and her meals left a lasting impression on anyone who sat at her table. When she wasn't in the kitchen or at the polls, she was behind the wheel as a bus driver, fostering connections with a host of children who would surely remember her kindness for years to come.
In addition to her community contributions, Loretta loved her family greatly and had an amazing knack for sewing, which not only served as a hobby but gave her joy in creating and mending for her loved ones. And let’s not forget about the family farm she ran, a place where she poured her heart and soul into every season.
Loretta was preceded in death by her first husband, George Dickson; her second husband, Cecil Stacy; her daughter, Danetta Smith; grandson Levi Tsosie; and her siblings: James Cain, Viola Gean Dahl, Larry Cain, Wonda Cain, Elsie Christie, Freeman Cain, Steve Cain, Thelma Edwards, Estell Cain, and Charlie Cain.
She leaves behind her sons, Levi and Tony Dickson, her sister, Galela Bowman, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
As we say our farewells, let’s remember the joy she brought to our lives and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Heaven has gained a true treasure.
