Lou Ann Collins

June 16, 1941 — May 13, 2023

Lou Ann (Christie) Collins, daughter of Jack Christie and Mae Ruth Hammer, was born on June 16, 1941, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She went to her eternal home in Heaven on May 13, 2023, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years.

She enjoyed traveling, going for rides, and stopping at yard sales. She loved having lots of flowers in her yard and loved her two donkeys, Molly and Dolly. Her family was her joy and she loved having everyone around her. Lou Ann was the "Queen of Fairfield" and would sit on her porch and watch traffic. She also had to watch Young and the Restless and Wheel of Fortune every day. She retired from working for Cherokee Nation as an Employment Training Specialist, but soon realized she just couldn't stay home! She went back to work for Cherokee Nation at the Wilma P. Mankiller Health Clinic for a few years, and then would retire again and she started keeping her great-grandkids, whom she spoiled.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; brothers Dave, Lawrence, and Chester Hammer Jr.; sister Mildred Ward; husband Bill Collins; son Jack Samms; her first husband Goodloe Samms; grandson Charles Scraper; and great-grandson Malachi Smith.

She is survived by a loving family that includes her daughters Mary Samms of the home in Stilwell, Oklahoma and Diane Scraper and husband Rick of Stilwell, Oklahoma; sister Susie Underwood and husband Ted of Bristow, Oklahoma; grandchildren Matthew Scraper of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Amber Dry and husband Kevin of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Teresa Hames and husband Jack of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Amanda Mink and Zachary Mink of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Jalen Scraper and wife Taylor of Stilwell, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Uriah Smith, Cainan, Emmary, and Avah Mink, Santana, Darrian, Scarlett, and Taylin Scraper, Tommy Sullins and Cheyenne Hames, all of Stilwell, Oklahoma. A multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends also survive her.
