Mae Jean Blakemore Johnson, daughter of Ormo and Dora Fletcher Blakemore, was born November 15, 1932, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, and left this life to be present with the Lord May 19, 2012, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 4 days. She married Johnny B Johnson on March 19, 1953, celebrating 59 years of marriage. She had no children, but she had many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends that she loved very much. Her church family at Barber Baptist Church was very important to her. Mae Jean served as Deputy County Clerk for 21 years and Adair County Clerk for 4 years, then retired from public office to help Johnny B on the farm. Everybody loved Mae Jean. When she ran for public office she won every box, and unlike most politicians, she never even mentioned her opponent. Mae Jean had the gift of helping and everyone who knew her would agree that there could never be a better example of a Christian woman than she was. She will be sorely missed by all those who dearly loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, and 3 brothers. Mae Jean is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Johnny B Johnson, of the home in Bunch, OK, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Bro. Charles Duvall and Bro. Joe Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
