Marietta Duncan

Marietta Joyce Duncan, daughter of Katie Mae Stayathome and Adam George Thirsty, was born December 15, 1946 in Malloy Hollow and departed this life on April 7, 2019 in Tahlequah, Ok at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 22 days.

She attended Chilocco Indian School when she was young. Marietta had a great love for children and was blessed to stay home to care for her own. She was a great cook and often remembered for her dumplings, raisin pies, dressing and fry bread to name a few, she also enjoyed her time working at Charlies Chicken. Family time was very important to her and she very much enjoyed time spent with her kids and grandkids.

Most importantly was her relationship with her Lord and Saviour. Marietta loved going to church, reading her bible and listening to gospel music.

Marietta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Roger Duncan, daughters; Loretta Earnest and Meshell Hope Duncan, grandsons; Jacob Lee Duncan and Shayden Gene Duncan, great grandson; Colorado Wayne Brown and sisters; Harriett Bigpond and Sharon Sue Thirsty.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes her sons; Toney Duncan and wife Kay, Carney Duncan and wife Kim, Ronnie Duncan and wife Ruby, Roger Duncan Jr. all of Stilwell, OK, grandchildren; Celia, Leigh, Katie, Schon, Shandi, Shaphan, Shaydee, Shace, Shelbi, Shalyn, Miranda, Taneika, Titus, India, Shakota, Sunny, Malachi, Trinity, Kevin, Nick, KaSandra and Ayden, great grandchildren; Macie, Lexie, McKenzie, Elijah, Hannah, Fallon, Fletcher, Talin, Zylin, Jacey, Jax and Brinley. Siblings; Melissa Carson, Wynema Craig, Adam Thirsty Jr. (Emma), Deloris Woods (Bill), Carolyn Thirsty and Tyrone Smith (Vickie), several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Elm Grove Baptist Church, Stilwell, OK with Bro. Eugene Kester, Bro. Donnie Sanders and Bro. Bill Sanders officiating. Interment followed at Barber Cemetery, Cherokee County, Oklahoma under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
