Melvin Born

Melvin Conway Born, son of James R. and Bertha E. Graham Born, was born January 19, 1920 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years. Melvin married his soul mate, Opal Eden, in 1939. The Lord blessed them with 67 years of marriage. To this union were born sons: Gene Raymond, daughters: Geneva Melinda. Melvin served his country proudly during World War II and was a member of the services that landed at Omaha Beach. He was a truck driver by profession, a valued member of the Westville community and a good friend. Melvin was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents: James Bertha Born, wife: Opal Born on January 30, 2007, brothers: James Lee Born, Fred Logan Born and sister: Sylvia Ward Emhoolah. Those left to keep his memory and legacy are his children: Geneva Bowling and husband Russell of Tulsa, OK, Gene Born and wife Polly of Fontana, CA, Melinda Coronda of Westville, OK, Raymond Born of Westville, OK, 10 grandchildren: Phyllis Pam Bowling, Heidi Scott Born, Tammy Holley Allison, Ryan, Cari Jody Born, Wayne Pearson, 23 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010 at Roberts Funeral Chapel with Bro. Joe White and Rev. Jim Ward officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
