Ola Alleen Merriott was born November 23, 1930 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She married Ted Hendrix on August 6, 1949 and to this union were born Darrell Hendrix, Debra Bennett and Brenda Hendrix. After the death of Ted on September 9, 1971, Ola married Ray Merriott on March 29, 1975 and gained two wonderful daughters, Gail Thackeray and Connie Pettigrew. Ola was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Bertha Gore, Ted Hendrix and daughter Brenda, Husband Ray and Step Daughter Gail Thackeray, Two Brothers: Howard Gore and Ross Gore, Two Sisters: Julia Terrell and Violet Merriott. Ola was a dedicated Christian who was a life-long member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. There she held a variety of jobs including book keeper for many years. She loved her church and was very faithful to not miss any services. Her special wish today would be that all here would come to know Jesus as their own personal savior. Ola is survived by her son Darrell Hendrix and wife Martha, daughters Debra Bennett and husband Charles, Connie Pettigrew and husband Larry, all of Stilwell. Two brothers: John Gore of Richland, WA, Otis Gore and wife Martha of Stilwell. One sister: Jewell Thorne of Ozark, MO. Brother-in-law: J.C. Merriott. Sister-in-law and Special friend: Violet Gore. Sisters-in-law: Maxine Hendrix and Phyllis Hendrix. Grandchildren: Danya Hendrix, Matthew Hendrix, Jamie Hendrix, Chad Hendrix, Kyle Bennett, Chrystie Edwards and husband Chad, Angela Chewey and husband Mouse, Joni Hale and husband Adam, Shelley Kimble and husband Justin, Cory Thackeray, Amanda Rayle and Tonya Thackeray, 16 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in the RobertsReed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Leo Allard officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReed-Culver Funeral Home.
