Oliver Smith

Oliver David Earl Smith, son of Oliver and Myrtle Mae Geyer Smith, was born on October 13, 1948 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and took flight with the angels on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Park Hill, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 30 days. David was truly a blessing to this earth. He was a very loving and gentle soul. David liked music. He loved to play the guitar and harmonica. His favorite musical artist was Johnny Cash. David had a Hot Wheels collection that numbered in the thousands. He knew and loved every one of them. David liked to visit with people and loved to go shopping. He was one of the oldest living people with Downs Syndrome. All who were blessed to know and love David will deeply miss him. David was preceded in death by his parents: Oliver and Myrtle Smith and sister: Irene Stroup. Those left to keep his memory alive are his sisters: Dorthy Maxey and husband Robert of Park Hill, OK, Olivia Rich of Tahlequah, OK, nieces and nephews: Bucky Stroup, Julie Whorton, Allison Melancon, Robin Hamby, Mack Cockrum, Jeannie Teague, Angela Cockrum, Susan Cockrum, Steven Cockrum, Jackie Richardson, Phyllis Kensinger, Andrea Cape, Sunny Cordell, numerous great nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010 at RobertsReedCulver Funeral Chapel with Pastor Perry Jamison officiating. Interment followed at Chalk Bluff Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
