Ona Vera Hopkins, daughter of Authur and Evie Turner Lange, was born on November 3, 1914 in Gilmer, Texas and departed this life to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years and 2 months. Ona worked as a Registered Nurse and a Beautician for many years. During WW II, she did her part for the American war effort by working in an airplane plant. Ona was an excellent cook and liked canning. Her great love was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed time spent gardening, hunting and fishing. Going to her grandchildrens ballgames was one of her favorite pastimes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Clarence E Hopkins, a granddaughter: Lisa McCollum, her siblings: Henry Lange, Aubrey Lange, Urbine Lange, Annie Attaway, Edith Miller, Mae Davis and Versa Laube. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Bill Hopkins and wife Cindy of Stilwell, OK, Pam McCollum and husband Larry of Stilwell, OK, 5 grandchildren: William Henry Hopkins of Stevens Point, WI, Emily Hopkins, Denton Hopkins, Raymond McCollum, Amanda Martin and husband Bobby, all of Stilwell, OK, 3 great grandchildren: Jessica McCollum, Drake McCollum and Lisa McCollum, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 in the RobertsReedCulver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Terry Hall officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
