Opal Abbott

December 11, 1924 — September 30, 2016

Opal Mae Abbott, daughter of Dan and Ruth Cobb, was born Dec. 11, 1924 in the Briggs community of Cherokee County.

She was the 4-H club secretary at Briggs School and graduated from WM C. Bagley High School in 1943 in Tahlequah. During World War II, she worked in the cafeteria at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company.
She married William Theodore Abbott on Oct. 22, 1945 and had children, Donna, Dan and Bobby Cora.

Opal spent most of her years as a homemaker caring for her family, canning food, sewing, tending her marigolds and vegetable garden.

She enjoyed traveling Europe and Asia, and collected souvenirs from her visits in all 50 states except Alaska. She loved to research genealogy, and loved to laugh and have her hair curled.

She passed this life on Sept. 30, 2016 in Stilwell, Ok.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, brothers Paul and Van Cobb and baby brother Carl.

She is survived by her children, daughter Donna, and husband Jerry Reed, of Stilwell; son Dan Abbott and wife Gayle, of Stilwell; son Bobby Cora and wife Wynona of Stilwell; grandchildren Dayna Abbott Hume and husband Daniel, of Stilwell; Cindy Rozell and husband Keith, of Broken Arrow; Julie Hubbard of Fort Gibson; Dustyn Ketcher of Stilwell; Teresa Ceniceros of Stilwell, and Waylon and Willie Cora. She has 12 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2016 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell, Oklahoma with Bro. Lance Unger officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery, Stilwell, Oklahoma
