Rafe Homer Guthrie, son of George Benjamin and Josie Sheffield Guthrie, came into this world on February 24, 1918 in Boxley, Arkansas and passed from this life on August 21, 2010 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 25 days. Homer moved to Adair County in 1925 as a young boy and lived here for 85 years. He had been a carpenter and rancher for many years in the Westville Area. He was well known and liked by all who knew him. Homer lived and worshiped as a member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. The Lord blessed him with a long life and many loved ones. Homers presence will be deeply missed. Preceding him in death were his parents: George and Josie Guthrie, first wife: Mattie Lucille, second wife: Virginia, stepdaughter: Wanda Long, baby sister: Ellie Guthrie, sister: Stella EdgmonBird, brothers: Raymond, Ralph, Edmond Victor Vic and Carl Guthrie. Those left to mourn his passing are his son: William Guthrie of Broken Arrow, OK, sisters: Myrtle Kindle and husband Walter of Westville, OK, Frankie Williams and husband Forrest of Westville, OK, brother: Dean Guthrie and wife Corrine of Westville, OK. Also surviving Homer are: Elva Jackson and husband Bill of Westville, OK, Henry Jackson of Tahlequah, OK, Patricia Hennington and husband Jim of West Fork, AR, Larry Kindle and wife Fern of Westville, OK, Kenneth Kindle and wife Mary of Westville, OK, Mike Kindle and wife Janelle of Westville, OK, Tammy Wilcoxsen and husband Don of Kansas, OK, Jonathan Stanley of Broken Arrow, OK and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Roberts Funeral Chapel, Westville, OK, with Bro. Larry Kindle officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
