Robert Shell, 71, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Robert Shell was born April 3rd, 1951 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Charlie Shell and Nellie (Christie) Shell. He graduated from Stilwell High School in 1969 and what is now known as Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas in 1971. He received further certifications in Machine Technology and CNC Programming from what is now the Tulsa Technology Center.
Robert married Pauline Smith of Springdale, Arkansas on May 21st, 1973 in Lawrence, Kansas. He thought the world of her, always pointing out her sweetness and kindness. Their love was as strong as steel to the end. Together they raised two adopted children. Son Travis “Chooch” Shell and daughter Misty Sulffridge of Fayetteville, Arkansas. They additionally raised an adopted grandson Travis L. Shell, who they greatly helped to graduate from the University of Oklahoma.
Robert was very proud that he could speak the Cherokee language and of his upbringing on the farm, raising crops and farm animals. His parents stressed the importance of hardwork and pursuing an education, and he made sure to pass those values on.
Robert’s favorite hobbies were horseback riding, hunting, fishing, golfing, playing softball, coaching Little League baseball, attending OU Sports games and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.
Robert was preceded in death by his two parents and seven siblings - Ross Shell, Toss Shell, David Shell, Peggy Sue Jefferson, Steve Shell, William Shell, and Nancy Shell.
Robert is survived by his wife, Pauline, grandson Travis of Norman, Oklahoma, children Travis (“Chooch”) and Misty of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and two sisters, Lula Mae Lavalette of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Charlotte Blakemore of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
