Roger Lee Vann, son of Dirthrower and Winnie Mae (Twist) Vann was born August 17, 1953 in Tahlequah, OK and departed this life to be with our Lord on October 30, 2015 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 13 days.
Roger was a very loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a Christian man and attended church at New Baptist Church. He was very fluent in the Cherokee Language and enjoyed traveling to teach people of his culture and doing traditional hog fry's. Some of his favorite things were hunting, fishing, going to chicken sales, but most of all spending time with his family. He loved to tell stories and was a big jokester.
He was a great heavy equipment operator and could run most machinery. He worked for the BIA for over 20 years and was currently employed with Cherokee Nation.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and grandson; Aydyn Harrington.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his children; Amanda Harrington and husband Clayton of Bunch, OK, Brian Vann and wife Felicia of Stilwell, OK, Sayleigh Vann of Stilwell, OK, 4 grandchildren; Alayna, Avann, Chasen and Talan. Siblings; Doris Shell and husband Charlie of Bunch, OK, D.J. Vann and wife Kim of Roland, OK, Jim Vann, Linda Wilson and husband Glenn, Gary Vann and wife Raylene all of Bunch, OK,2 special sisters; Carnella "Walkie" Beaver and Terri Dawn Soap, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at New Life Church, Stilwell, OK with Rev. Charlie Shell and Pastor Ted Qualls officiating. Interment followed at South Bunch Cemetery, Bunch, OK under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
